Sloan Lubrication Systems is proud to announce their nomination and entrance into the final round of the 2015 Pittsburgh Family Business Award.
In its first year, the 2015 Pittsburgh Family Business Award seeks to honor multi-generational family-owned businesses in the Western Pennsylvania region. The award aspires to provide recognition for family businesses based on “overall excellence, innovation, ethics, and philanthropy”. The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges.
The Pittsburgh Business Times is hosting a luncheon, May 7, 2015 to honor all nominees and present awards.
The Sloan family is pleased they were chosen alongside the other nominees for this award, which exemplifies the success and impact that a strong family business can have on the community.
The Sloan Family
The Sloan family’s mission: “To never fail to exceed all customer expectations in providing the absolute highest quality of product, service and delivery available in the lubrication industry.”
Today, the company proudly maintains a 30,000-square foot facility located in Freeport, PA. Sloan Lubrication employs 35 individuals and manufactures its high quality lubrication systems in house. With four generations and over twenty family members owning and operating the business, Sloan Lubrication Systems is growing, thriving and is committed to excellence.
Four Generations of History
Sloan Lubrication Systems is a fourth generation family business. From its humble beginnings came the first Sloan generation – Ralph, Paul and Walter – traveling salesman delivering products straight from the manufacturer to the customer.
The second generation of Sloan, Walter’s children John and Margaret, entered the business after World War II and capitalized on a rapidly growing industry – natural gas transmission. They were able to successfully grow the business by providing accurate and protected lubrication systems for the natural gas industry.
The third generation, including Walter Sloan II, current President and CEO, entered the business in 1972 along with siblings Andrew and Nancy. This generation implemented exciting new technological advancements in lubrication systems for industries such as natural gas and refining.
The fourth generation includes C.J., Brian, and Eric – sons of Walter Sloan II. They are committed to developing new and innovative enhancements to the lubrication systems while maintaining the Sloan family’s dedication to customer satisfaction.
